Yield: 4 four-ounce Burgers
1lb Mary's Alternative Protein
2 cups Onions (sliced thin)
2 tbsp Cooking oil of choice (Sunflower, Avocado)
½ tsp Salt
½ cup BBQ Sauce of choice (Kinder’s Organic Mild BBQ Sauce used in this recipe)
Instructions
1. Preheat 10-inch sauté pan on the low side of medium heat.
2. Add salt and sliced onions and stir and let sauté until start to caramelize (approximately 10 minutes).
3. When they begin to caramelize add oil and begin stirring about every three minutes until the onions are golden brown. Pour caramelized onions into bowl and set aside.
4. Remove Ground Chicken from package keeping in brick form. Slice in half. Slice each half into quarters and slice each quarter into 1/8th strips.
5. Preheat sauté pan on medium heat with 4 teaspoons of oil. Add chicken strips and roll in oil. Sauté on each side about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown.
6. Add BBQ sauce, onions, and stir into mixture. Continue cooking for 2-3 minutes or until hot. If the bottom starting to caramelize add 2-3 tablespoons of water to deglaze pan.
Serve while hot on a Bun or without a bun and with potato salad or cold slaw.
